Message from the Mayor
Happy day – we can now cross Absaroka Street east/west at all intersection! What a great project this is for our community. Thank you to Powell’s citizens for being patient during construction and supporting the improvement at the polls. The infrastructure updates buried beneath the pavement will be one of those unseen benefits to Powell for many years to come.
Summer seems to have ended with a strong breeze and a quick exit. I hope everyone got outdoors and partook of the warm-weather activities we love in Wyoming. The electrical sub-station fire and power outages are activities we could have lived without, but I appreciate that folks turned off the AC at times to help conserve energy. Plans are in the works for additional improvements that will avoid future problems.
On a lighter note and due to some hard work by a few community members, we constructed and now have a dog park in town. The new Wiggley Field at Homesteader Park opened for our furry friends in August. It’s a great place to exercise your dogs without them wandering off.
I’ll close with a few things to keep in mind as the cold weather sets in... drive carefully, pray for the good weather for the farmers, get your flu shot, catch some entertainment at a high school or college event, slowdown in school zones, check on your neighbors, change your furnace filter. And always remember, shop local when possible. Thanks for making Powell a great place to live.
(John Wetzel is the mayor of Powell.)
