Message from the Mayor
June 21st is the official start of summer… hooray! While I know there are a few folks who do not appreciate the heat, most of us in Wyoming live for the glorious summer months. It’s the time to enjoy those long days and reap the blessings of Wyoming’s beauty and outdoor recreation. Personally, I am waiting patiently for the rivers to clear, so the fishing can commence. In the meantime, it is golf, family time and yardwork.
Yes, yardwork. Being Mayor requires me to keep the grass cut, weeds pulled and the bushes trimmed. Actually, per city ordinance all of us are required to keep up with these chores. Driving through town with my Mayor’s eyes, I notice the many homes that do a great job maintaining their properties; it is greatly appreciated. The well-trimmed yards are often commented on by visitors as well area residents, making Powell a coveted place to reside. So, thank you very much.
On a side note, summer construction is in full swing. Please take a little extra time and caution traveling through town. The city crews are busy trying to get caught up on repairing the usual potholes, plus it’s hard to miss the Coulter Avenue project. But remember, children are out enjoying the sunshine, too, so watch for ‘little’ obstructions.
And be sure to get in your fair share of park time, picnics, camping, baseball, fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, biking, tennis, croquet, badminton and, of course, the Park County Fair. Summer goes quick!
